Thank You for all your referrals in 2016

As we bid 2016 farewell the Swanson Real Estate Team cannot begin to offer enough gratitude for all your referrals. We have maintained our status as the best listing team in the Livermore area and it has been made possible by our Referral Partners, both clients and B2B sources.

Whenever I am in the different neighborhoods, I think of all the families that we worked with to find the homes that fit their exact needs. Some of these were first homes, others were moving up as they welcomed new additions and yet some were downsizing as the grown children moved on to college. Our team was able to not “just get the job done”, rather ensured to provide a customer experience that left our customers so impressed that they could not help but share it.

We really do appreciate it so much. Referrals are the best way to grow our business and we hope to keep providing the best customer experience in Livermore, be it buying a home or selling.

Who Invented New Year’s Resolutions?

The tradition of New Year’s resolutions dates all the way back to 153 B.C. when January mythical god of early Rome. Janus was often depicted with two faces— one looking forward, to the future, and one looking back to the past.

The Romans believed Janus could forgive them for wrong-doings in the previous year. They would then make promises, believing Janus would see this and bless them in the year ahead. Those promises are the origin of our New Year’s Resolutions today.

Coach Yourself to a Big New Year’s Goal!

To help kick off your New Year, grab a pen and paper and try this goal setting activity!

Having a big goal in life is empowering.  But the size of the goal isn’t as important as your intention to reach the goal.  Here is a self-coaching exercise that’s useful in helping you shape your intention to reach your biggest goal this year. Grab a notepad and answer each of the following questions thoughtfully.
1. What single biggest goal would you like to achieve this year?
2. On a scale of 1 to 10, how strong is your intention to reach that goal? (1=low, 10=high)
3. If your intention is not a 9 or 10, it’s unlikely you’ll accomplish such an important change. What has to happen for you to turn your intention into a 9 or 10?
4. Imagine it is January 2018. Now describe your life as if your goal were achieved.  “It’s 2018. Here’s what my life is like now as a result of reaching my goal…”
5. Still imagining, describe what you did to make it happen. “First I did this…. Then this… And I had to do this…” Sometimes looking backwards we can more easily see the steps we took, rather than looking forward and trying to see steps we need to take.

Look How Amazing Your Brain Is!

Here’s an interesting experiment in brain function sometimes used to test a person's mental acuity. Warning: if English is not your native tongue, you may naturally have problems with the is exercise, not because you have mental challenges!

Read the following passage:

8 Emerging Trends in Real Estate for 2017

  1. An uneasy balance. Despite the strength of the current real estate market, new supply remains low as millennials enter the market.
  2. Optionality. Not just one use, not just one user is gaining favor.
  3.  Labor scarcity. A shortage of construction workers is slowing timelines and pushing up costs.
  4.  Housing affordability. In many markets, middle-income households are “housing stressed.”
  5.  Blocking entry. At a time when some markets are struggling with a shortage of affordable housing, opposition to solutions are rising.
  6. Revitalization. Renewing towns and neighborhoods is a priority.
  7. Smart requirements. The use of technology appears to be driving economic growth to urban areas.
  8. Blockchain for real estate? Blockchain is the technology behind Bitcoin. As millennials become buyers, it has the potential to be a disrupting technology for real estate.
